BELLARY: The Bellary Rural Constituency (ST) is all set for a “free and fair by-election” on Wednesday. All preparations have been made, composite checkposts have been set up at strategic places along the inter-state border, specially in Anantapur and Kurnool regions, police sources said. A total of 1.72 lakh voters would cast their votes in the election. Of these, 86,201 are women and 85,848 men.A total of 195 polling booths have been set up and 950 polling staff, 36 micro observers, 19 MCC teams, 18 sector officials would man the election. Around 31 hidden cameras have been installed. All booths have been given additional security and people can vote without any apprehensions about their security, said IGP (Eastern range) Sanjay Sayi.Of the 195 polling booths, 118 are sensitive and 15 hypersensitive.Government staff from Koppal have been drafted for election duty. More preventive arrests has been made to thwart any untoward incident during the bypoll.R Manohar, Special Election Observer, is camping in the region.
