Google is bringing the power of AI to the Assistant in the coming months but before that the company wants to cut down on the number of features you get with the product. That’s right, Google Assistant is going to lose as many as 20 features by the end of this month, as it sets the platform for more AI-centric features to come into the Assistant ecosystem.
Google Assistant Features Going Away Soon
– Ability to play and control audiobooks on Google Play Books using your voice.
– Not having the power to set or use media alarms, music alarms, or radio alarms on any Google Assistant-enabled devices.
– Accessing or managing your cookbook, transferring recipes from device to device, playing an instructional recipe video, or showing step-by-step recipes.
– Having the option to play recipe videos, seeing the step-by-step process and even managing cookbooks using the Assistant.
– Not able to manage the stopwatch on smart displays like the Google Nest Hub or speakers.
– Don’t have the option to use your voice to call a device or broadcast a message to your Google Family Group.
– Assistant won’t help you with sending an email, video, or audio message.
– Assistant can’t help you reschedule an event in Google Calendar with your voice.
– Google Assistant in driving mode on Google Maps won’t help you read and send messages, or make calls.
– Fitbit Sense the Versa devices lose voice control support for activities.
– Only using Duo for calls from speakers or smart displays will come with a Caller ID.
– Not able to use voice control to check for personal travel schedules.
– Assistant not able to help you with making a payment, booking a reservation or even making a post on social media.
Assistant has been part of all the major devices where voice interaction makes it convenient to get things done. Going by the features Assistant is losing, it seems Google is now ready to bring AI into the voice platform to improve on the existing tech and take the interaction to a deeper level.
