Bellary: The driver of a Karnataka bureaucrat has allegedly committed suicide after accusing the officer and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy of harassing him over laundered black money.
Ramesh Gowda, who worked as a driver for special land acquisition officer Bheema Naik in Bengaluru, committed suicide on Tuesday by consuming poison, sources told CNN-News18
In his suicide note, Gowda claimed that he had information on how Reddy converted Rs 100 crore black money into white and hence was receiving constant death threats.

Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officer Naik was accused by Gowda of having received a 20 percent cut for helping Reddy launder the money needed for his daughter's lavish wedding.
The suicide note claimed that Reddy along with BJP MP Sriramulu met Naik several times at a five star hotel in Bengaluru in the days before the wedding. Along with 20 percent cut, Naik allegedly wanted Reddy to help him get a ticket to contest the 2018 Karnataka elections.
Police have filed a case against Naik.
Income Tax officials had visited Reddy’s house in Bellary after the "Rs 500 crore" wedding and asked him to produce details.

Earlier, IT sleuths had unearthed around Rs 150 crore in unaccounted property and cash – Rs 5.7 crore was in new notes of Rs 2,000 – at the palatial residences of two state government engineers. Chikkarayappa and SC Jayachandra have been suspended now. These engineers are said to be close aides of CM Siddaramaiah, however he was quick to reject such allegations.
According to reports, Reddy, who spent four years in Hyderabad and Bengaluru jails, had returned to Karnataka’s Bellary after five years on November 1 to make preparations for his daughter's Rs 500 crore wedding.
