Union Law Minister HR Bhardwaj says India needs a new law to increase the safeguards against phone tapping.
New Delhi: Union Law Minister HR Bhardwaj on Tuesday said India needs a new law to put a check on phone tapping.
"It would be a good idea to review the existing laws to increase safeguards against phone tapping," the Law Minister told CNN-IBN in an exclusive interview.
He said: "It was time to review the existing safeguards against phone-tapping in the law and the constitution."
He also said that there is a need for 'more stringent controls over the telecom companies'.
"It is better to regulate both the operation of the telecom companies and do corrections," he said.
