THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Harry Potter and friends were given a rousing reception in the city on Friday with youngsters thronging Sreekumar theatre, where the final consignment of the series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part II’, was released. It was quite an energetic outburst that City Express witnessed outside Sreekumar theatre, where the film was released. Teenagers Dhanya and Radhika could not contain their excitement after watching the movie. ‘’A great movie it is, no doubt. Stunning effects and arresting storyline. We received more than what we expected. The battle scenes were absolutely thrilling,’’ they said in unison. The youngsters who streamed out after the morning show were received by an unexpected drizzle, which put a damper on the grand get-togethers they had planned and, instead, many were in a hurry to get home. Still, under the shelter of umbrellas, some guys gathered outside to share the excitement. Akshay, Rishikesh and their friends have not missed any of the Potter series. They have also read all of the seven books. ‘’The graphics were magnificent than any of the other movies,’’ said Rishikesh. ‘’If the graphics were in 3-D, they would have been superb,’’ Akshay chipped in, adding that he would miss Potter and Co.‘’Harry, of course, is the favourite. Then Snape, Hermione and everyone else,’’ he said.‘’Some parts of the book have been toned down to suit the silver screen,” says Akshay, who has not yet lost hope of another magical episode from J K Rowling. But Lakshmi, an MSW student, begs to differ. ‘’Things should conclude perfectly. The essence would be lost if the story is stretched any further. This movie was a nice wrap-up,’’ she opined. ‘’Many got goose bumps after watching the movie. It was a captivating experience. Once the excitement dies down, the grief in bidding adieu to the magical crew will surface,’’ Abhijith, who is pursuing his studies in Bangalore, said.Parents of little Harry fans had a difficult time on Friday to send their kids to school since many were impatiently waiting for the final big screen adventure. ‘’I promised my nine-year-old daughter that I would take her to the movie once she got back from school,’’ said Rini, who was trying to get tickets for Friday’s first show. While the majority of the youngsters agree that ‘Deathly Hallows - Part II’ was a genuine visual treat, many also expressed the hope that Rowling would wave her magic wand just once more.
