Patna: The Monsoon Session of Bihar state legislature will convene on July 24, a senior official said on Tuesday.
The Monsoon Session of the state legislature will have six sittings between July 24-31, Principal Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) Shishir Sinha said. The session, in all likelihood, would be the final session of the two Houses of the state legislature as Bihar goes to the polls later in 2015. In a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday, 18 agendas were approved, he said.
Among the significant decisions, the state government approved an agriculture department proposal for sanction of Rs 115 crore towards disbursal of diesel subsidy to the farmers for watering Kharif crops and sowing alternative crops amid irregular monsoon and emergent situations like flood and drought, Sinha said.
While Rs 90.71 crore has been earmarked for providing diesel subsidy to the farmers for watering Kharif crops, another Rs 24.28 crore would be provided to the farmers for alternative crops under a scheme, he said.
The state government also rained sops to homeguards by raising their daily allowance by Rs 100 to Rs 400, while their travel allowance was hiked to Rs 100 from Rs 20 earlier, Sinha said.
In the event of demise of homeguards during service, the ex-gratia amount for the families of homeguards have been raised from Rs one lakh to Rs four lakh, the Principal Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) said, adding on retirement, the homeguards would get an one-time grant of Rs 1.5 lakh.
