VIJAYAWADA: The BJP will organise a meeting on ‘Andhra-Abhivruddhi’ here on August 2 to create an awareness among people of coastal districts about the backwardness of the region on several fronts. The meeting has been planned by the party as part of its campaign for a separate Andhra state.Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, BJP general secretary Somu Veerraju said many people in the coastal districts were not aware of the regional imbalances. The development achieved by the state was limited to the state capital and surrounding areas. Samaikyandhra activists were ‘ignorant’ of the fact that the region was lagging behind on several fronts when compared to Telangana and it was not getting a fair deal in allocation of funds for development projects, he said.He said some political parties were adopting double standards to keep their vote banks intact though they were well aware that injustice was being done to Andhra region.
