BHUBANESWAR: The BJP on Monday demanded a special session of Parliament just after the Monsoon Session to discuss the issue of corruption and black money stashed abroad and formulate a national policy which would serve as a guideline for all incumbent governments. If the Government is serious in its intent and commitment to fight corruption and black money, then it should convene a special Parliament session to formulate a national policy, BJP leader Rajnath Singh told mediapersons. Alleging that the UPA Government’s stand on key issues like corruption and black money is selective and evasive, senior national leader of the BJP said the Centre was hesitant to take any action to trail the black money as many key figures in the Congress would be exposed. The UPA Government recently ratified the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) after six years following pressure from the Opposition political parties. Ratification of UNCAC means that India had agreed to the assets recovery which is the most fundamental principle of the convention, he said adding, people are now looking forward to its recovery.   The BJP asked the Prime Minister to share his Government’s action plan for asset recovery through a white paper on black money, Singh said. The malady of black money and corruption can be addressed only if the Government initiates a public debate which includes other relevant aspects like electoral and educational reforms. However, the inhuman and barbaric assault on Baba Ramdev and his followers was an outrage and generated an unprecedented revulsion against the UPA Government in its dealing with the twin issues, he remarked. Lambasting the Centre for the economic mismanagement, the former BJP president said that the UPA Government had no control over economy. Never in the history of independent India petrol price was hiked seven times in 13 months. Dismissing the Government argument that it was inevitable in the face of increasing prices of crude oil in the international market, Singh sought to know if the neighbouring countries too hiked petrol price by ` 23. He advised the Government to find out a national price stabilisation mechanism or set up a price stabilisation fund to neutralise the price rise. He criticised the Centre for its failure to bring the perpetrators of Mumbai terror attack to justice even after two and a half years and said this showed the failure of the UPA Government.   The Government should leverage its status of strategic partner with the USA to expose the nexus between the ISI, LeT and Pakistan Army and bring diplomatic pressure on the international community to get ISI declared as a terrorist organisation.
