TUMKUR: In a cinematic incident, a gang of five assailants murdered a BJP worker cum realtor in broad day light in Tumkur on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Narasimhamurthy( 36), who originally hailed from Urukere village but lived in Aralimaradapalya near here for past six years.The gang had called him over his cell phone at around 4 pm and made him to visit them at 80 feet road off IDSMT shopping complex. When he came on his motorbike, one of the assailants had a heated altercation with him.Meanwhile, they pushed him down and attacked him with lethal weapons including long knives, at around 4.45 pm and sped away in a four-wheeler. The victim who sustained serious injuries at head, neck and stomach bled to death on the spot.He was a realtor and had a rivalry with some of the gangs over land disputes.The role of three of the rival gangs has been suspected to be behind the incident.The incident stunned the BJP circle.City MLA Sogadu Shivanna and the office bearers visited the spot. As superintendent of police was away, the deputy superintendent of police Vijayakumar visited the spot along with the sniffer dog squad. The victim is survived by one-and-half-year-old son and wife Kalpana.The DySP told ‘Express’ that the identity of the assailants and the motif behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. However, four teams of police were formed to work on the clues and by Wednesday there might be some breakthrough in to the investigation, he revealed.BJP district president Shivaprasad told ‘Express’ that the victim was an honest BJP worker for 15 years and had been actively taking part in the organisation activities.The incident was an indication of the failure of the police department to protect the public as it took place in a broad day light, he criticised.He clarified that he will take up the case at the government- level to monitor the law and order situation in Tumkur.It can be recalled that a CMC councilor, Anjinappa too had been hacked to death in a similar fashion eight months ago.
