Aditya Khelawat, a class XII student, becomes 114th victim of killer buses.

Noida: A Blueline bus crushed a Class XII student of Delhi Public School (DPS) to death on Wednesday evening, making him the 114th victim this year of the capital's notorious "killer" buses.

Aditya Khelawat, son of an Assam-based chartered accountant, was crushed under the wheels of the bus in Sector 12 of Noida, on the outskirt of the national capital, police said.

"The accident occurred around 7 pm, when Khelawat, 18, was trying to board the bus after attending a party organised by his friends," said Paresh Pandey, superintendent of police, Noida.

"The bus was running on the route number 323 (from Noida to Dhaula Kuan). We have impounded the bus but both the driver and the conductor are absconding," Pandey said.

He said Khelawat lived in Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi with his guardian Sushil Jain.

"We came to know about his identity from his books and informed his guardian. His father is coming to take the body Thursday," Pandey said, adding Khelwat's body was shifted to the Noida government hospital for post-mortem examination.

With their killer runs, the Blueline buses have created havoc on the roads of Noida and Delhi throughout the year. Besides 114 killed, nearly 200 others have been injured in accidents involving the Blueline buses in 2007.

The 4,000-strong Blueline bus fleet, which forms a crucial part of Delhi's public transport system, has earned public ire for the recklessness of its drivers and owners, but officials say they are helpless to check the menace.

The Delhi High Court has reprimanded the state government for failing to curb these buses, but Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has expressed her inability to phase out these buses before 2011.
