Dhanbad (Jharkhand): The bodies of all the 50 miners killed in Nagda colliery have been recovered.

The four others injured in the underground explosion are now out of danger, the mine owning company said on Saturday. The four miners had miraculously escaped from the pit after the explosion on Wednesday.

They were now in better condition, Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL) Chairman and Managing Director Partho S Bhattacharya told a press conference.

He said the appointment letters were handed over to 49 of the 50 families, who lost a member each in the mine disaster.

They were also given a cheque of Rs 3.7 lakh each. One family was yet to claim for employment, he said.

An additional officer has been included in the three-member committee instituted to look into the incident, Bhattacharya said.

In an important decision, BCCL's audit of the saftey status of mines, graded second and third degrees, would now be taken up every two years instead of the current practice of once in four years, the BCCL chief said.

The explosion took place at about 2000 hrs (IST) on Wednesday and was reportedly caused by the pressure due to the accumulation of methane and carbon monoxide.

The intensity was so high that a one-tonne trolley in inclination number 17 was thrown out.
