Kannur: The house of CPI(M) MLA AN Shamseer in Kannur was attacked with a bomb on Friday night, allegedly by members of the RSS amid the ongoing incidents of violence in Kerala over the Sabarimala issue.
A country-made bomb was hurled at the house at Madappeedika near Thalassery. Nobody was injured in the attack, but a water tank and some flower pots were damaged.
Shamseer alleged that RSS men were behind the attack and top leaders of the Sangh were part of the conspiracy.
The MLA, who represents Thalassery assembly constituency, was not at home at the time of the incident and was attending a peace meet involving leaders of CPI(M) and the RSS.
A series of attacks on the houses of leaders of CPI(M) and RSS have been reported from Thalassery area in the past two days after two women under the age of 50 managed to enter Sabarimala temple and offer prayers, becoming the first women of menstruating age to perform the historic feat since the Supreme Court lifted the ban.
The state has turned into a war zone over the last two days as members of right-wing outfits went on a rampage to protest the entry of women in the shrine. The house of Malabar Devaswom (temple administration) board member K Sasikumar at Perambra in Kozhikode was also attacked with bombs in the early hours of Friday, the police said. Similar explosives were hurled at a mobile shop in Adoor in Pathanamthitta, they said.
