London: London: India had a decent outing at the Wimbledon with Rohan Bopanna and Mahesh Bhupathi progressing to the quarter-finals of the men's doubles event with their respective partners even as Sania Mirza crashed out of the women's doubles competition, here on Monday.

Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France stunned the third seeded pair of Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares to breeze into the men's doubles quarter-finals, while Bhupathi and Austrian Julian Knowle defeated Canadian combination of Jesse Levine and Vasek Pospisil.

The 14th seeded pair of Bopanna and Edouard shocked the fancied Austrian-Brazilian pair 6-4, 4-6, 6-7(5), 6-2 in two hours and 17 minutes.

Eight seeded pair of Bhupathi and Knowle also had to play a four setter to get the better of unseeded Levine and Pospisil 6-2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in two hours and five minutes.

While Bopanna and his new partner Edouard will now play sixth seeds Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Daniel Nestor of Canada in the quarterfinals, Bhupathi and Knowle will fight it out against the winner of the match between top seeded American duo of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan and 16th seeds Treat Huey of Philippines and Great Britain's Dominic Inglot for a place in the semi-finals.

However, there was a bad news for India in the women's doubles competition as Sania and Liezel Huber exited in the third round. The sixth seeded Indo-American pair was shocked 2-6, 6-3, 2-6 by unseeded Japanese-South African combination of Shuko Aoyama and Chanelle Scheepers.

Sania, however, will take the courts again on Monday as she and Romanian Horia Tecau, seeded second, face German combination of Martin Emmrich and Julia Goerges in the mixed doubles second round.

Bopanna also will take to the field one more time on Monday as he and his Chinese partner Jie Zheng play their mixed doubles second round game against Robert Farah of Columbia and Darija Jurak of Croatia.

Fourth seeds Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek face 15th seed Polish pair of Lukasz Kubot and Marcin Matkowski in the third round of the men's doubles event.
