Haridwar: Dowry seekers brought a young girl on the verge of her death. The boy refused to marry without a car. Unable to bear the 'humiliation', the bride-to-be slit her wrist and is now fighting for her life in a hospital.
Sources said the girl's family has lodged a complaint against the boy for demanding dowry. The complaint also alleges that the boy, named Dinesh, promised marriage to the girl and then had physical relations with her.
Investigating officer Vikas Bhardwaj told IBN7 that Dinesh even got engaged to the girl and assured her of marriage. He then continued his physical relations. However, right before his marriage procession was supposed to reach the girl's home, the boy apparently demanded a car and refused to marry.
Shocked, the girl slit her wrist and is now in a hospital. The family then contacted the police. Further investigations are on.
