Brazil get score back to 2-1 in Davis Cup playoff
Melo and Soares defeated the German pair Brands and Emmrich 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to leave the five-match series poised 2-1 in favour of the hosts.

Ulm, Germany: Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares gave Brazil hope of remaining in the Davis Cup World Group with victory in their doubles match over Germany's Daniel Brands and Martin Emmrich on Saturday.

Melo and Soares defeated the German pair 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to leave the five-match series poised 2-1 in favour of the hosts.

Emmrich says "we didn't expect to win the doubles but we went out with big chests, hoping we could make it."

Thomaz Bellucci and Rogerio Dutra Silva need to win their reverse singles on Sunday for Brazil to stay in the World Group for another year.

Soares says "it ain't over till it's over, so they're going to come here tomorrow and give everything they have. If Germany wins, they win - but they'll have to fight."
