MYSORE: Former Assembly Speaker Krishna, who is the convener of ‘Brashtachara Virodhi Ranga’, said that there is a need to form a panel headed by a retired judge of the High Court to deal with the denotification of land applications to prevent the misuse of discretionary powers given to the chief minister.Speaking on the sidelines of a function here on Monday, he said, “Yeddyurappa’s is a classic example where the discretionary powers were misused. Hence the need for the panel headed by a retired High Court judge to scrutinise land denotification applications.”He emphasised the need to review existing laws, which were brought into force by the British rulers and plug loopholes.“People feel that there is no assembly in the state because of malgovernance and Bills being passed sans debate,” he stressed.Krishna appealed to freedom fighters to inspire youths to fight against corruption. “The deep-rooted corruption is a setback to the nation. Hence, freedom fighters should urge youth to extend their support to Team Anna for their campaign against corruption,” he said.Krishna was of the opinion that levelling baseless allegations against Team Anna members like Arvind Kejrival and Kiran Bedi will affect the fight against corruption.
