KOCHI: ‘Designer Angadi’ - one of the biggest fairs to showcase innovative and emerging trends in the manufacturing sector and also in the construction arena-has commenced at the Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium on Friday. The fair is being organised by the Indian Institute of Architecture, Kochi Centre and Indian Institute of Indian Interior designers, Kerala Chapter. Architect Gopakumar inaugurated the exhibition on Friday. The organisers said that such an exhibition would be of immense help in building rapport between the public and the architects. They also said that the ‘Designer Angadi’ would be an apt platform for those who want to discuss and seek advice from famous architects regarding the plan for constructing their houses. The exhibition will also organise competitions and project presentations for the young architects and student architects respectively. ‘Designer Angadi’ will also focus on ‘Green Architecture’ which can be termed as eco-friendly architecture. The organisers said that they would also take measures to create  awareness among the people regarding the green architecture. Under the aegis of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Kochi chapter, Green Architecture day will be celebrated on October 17 to propagate the message of eco-friendly architecture. To make Kochi a waste-free city and also to make a public awareness, a technical thesis will be presented by famous architects on the occasion. The focus of the thesis is to spread  awareness about the energy efficient buildings. Apart from the participation of famous architects, the Designer Angadi exhibition will also witness the participation of famous personalities from all walks of life. An architecture quiz will also be held and the awards for different competitions in the exhibition will be handed over on the concluding day of the exhibition.The stage will be fully air conditioned and apart from 100 stalls, there will also be food court, seminar hall, business corner, work exhibition pavilions. The organisers of the exhibition will also organise entertaining activities like painting, astrology and palmistry. Chairman of Designer Angadi S Gopakumar, convener S R Vipin, IIA Kochi Centre chairman L Gopakumar and secretary  Bini Vasu were the main driving force behind this venture. The fair will be on till October 17.
