NEWDELHI: The rejection of Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj's recommendation for imposition of President's rule in the state by the Union Cabinet for Political Affairs, has not ended the BJP-Congress shadow boxing. The Centre on Monday reacted with a firm no to Chief Minister B S Yeddyuruppa's demand for Bhardawaj's recall.
"There's no question of recalling the Governor,'' Home Minister P Chidambaram said, in reply to a query on the BJP's demand for Bhardwaj's removal. This is the second time that the Karnataka Governor's report has been rejected by the Centre.Explaining the rationale behind the rejection, Chidamabaram said the Union government had to be mindful of the Supreme Court's judgment on the issue. "For imposition of President's rule a lot of other issues, including the SC judgments, have to be looked into.''
