New Delhi: Centre and Uttarakhand will work together to develop tourism in the state and take it to the new heights, Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma on Tuesday said.
While discussing various tourism-related issues with state's Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Sharma said the Centre has always been committed to the development of Uttarakhand, especially after the destruction caused by floods, according to a release.
As per the plan Rishikesh and Haridwar will be developed under the spiritual tourism scheme of the government.
Central government is committed to development of Kedarnath and funds have already been sanctioned under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spirituality Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme, in addition to the Rs 100 cr sanctioned for reconstruction and redevelopment after destruction caused by floods.
Tourism Ministry has already approved for the development
of tourism in and around Tehri.
