Charges against Revanna, Siddu dropped

BANGALORE: The Privilege Committee of the Karnataka Assembly, headed by Derrick Fullin Faw and Basavaraj Patil Attur, has decided to drop all the eight petitions referred to it on alleged violations of the privileges of the members and the Speaker of the House.In a report submitted to the Assembly here on Thursday, the committee has stated that it has decided to drop all the petitions referred to it following appeals made by the concerned, including JD(S) Floor leader HD Revanna, Opposition leader Sidharamaiah, Congress member Ramalinga Reddy and a few journalists, who were also named in the petitions. The committee has said while Revanna pleaded ignorance about some of the statements reportedly made by him against the Speaker, Sidharamaiah denied ‘his’ comments against the Speaker reported in the vernacular media.Both Revanna and Sidharamaiah, while responding to a notice issued by the committee, replied that their statements were twisted by the media, and that they had high regards to the office of the Assembly Speaker.
