BANGALORE: The Bangalore District Chemists and Druggists Association (BDCDA) submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and Drugs Controller to ensure that VAT is chargeable and payable as per the order of the Drugs Price Controller.The BDCDA inaugurated its convention-cum-workshop in the city on Sunday and put forward its demands. “We want them to bring in the inclusive component, not only in medical products, but all products,” MP Medappa, Senior Vice President of the forum said. Stating that the authorities have welcomed this suggestion which would benefit the consumer, Medappa said both departments had assured them to look into these suggestions. The officials have stated that the amendments to the policy would take time and sought cooperation from the forum.The forum also sought clarification in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules and Drugs Price Control Order. The seminar also saw discussions on topics related to the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority Policy 2011 draft
