Mumbai: If you are a fan of all things filmi, then Mumbai's quaint Chor Bazaar is the place for you.
The posters in Chor Bazaar's Mini market tell a story and they can take you through the history of Indian cinema through the ages.
A shop in the market has been a treasure chest of all things filmi since the 1950s. it has posters of the biggest stars in Hindi cinema - from Amitabh Bachchan to Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Gurudutt 's most famous movies to black and white classics from bygone eras.
"Our family has been in this business for a long time. It's a passion, a hobby,” said the owner, Mini Market, Sajid Mansoor.
Apart from posters, one can also find other film memorabilia like Lobby cards, old photographs, antique pieces that are a steal at this place. The shop is a regular stop for most art directors and antique collectors and a magnet for foreign tourists who love their dose of Bollywood.
“I love Indian films and posters and this is very nice. I remember the song in a Raj Kapoor film, Ichak Dana Bichak Dana,” a tourist said.
Retro fans can also get their hands on old rock 'n' roll posters, Hollywood photos and even old autographs.
And with poster art now coming into its own, the quaint bylanes of Chor Bazaar will continue to draw crowds of fans.
