BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the deputy commissioners (DCs) and chief executive officers of zilla panchayats (ZP CEOs) will be held accountable if there are any lapses in redressing problems of drinking water and fodder to cattle during the forthcoming summer. “There are no dearth of funds for drinking water and fodder. I want you to prepare a concrete action plan keeping in mind the situation in the next two to three months and implement work on a war-footing. I want results not excuses,” Gowda said, while addressing the district administrative machinery through video conference here on Wednesday. Later, speaking to reporters, the CM claimed that drought-relief work was satisfactory in all districts with few exceptions. “There are a few places where drinking water is a problem which are going to be solved by taking up short-term measures such as supplying water in tankers,” he added. Gowda replied in the affirmative when asked if he plans to lead an all-party delegation to the Centre to seek more funds. “I will consider it but as it is we have submitted a proposal to the Centre to provide financial help to the tune of about Rs 1,500 crore following drought in about 100 taluks,” he said. On media reports about drinking water problems       in the state, the chief minister also sought clarification from the DCs and CEOs.
