BHADRAK: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed displeasure over the poor performances of Bhadrak district officials on the implementation of the Mamata scheme, in the district. Reviewing its progress through video conferencing, Naveen urged the District Collector to expedite implementation of the scheme and take stern action against the officials responsible for it. It is learnt that only 28 per cent women in the district have benefited from this scheme. The Chief Minister expressed resentment over non-implementation of the scheme in Bhadrak, Basudevpur and Dhamnagar blocks till date. According to reports, 30,667 women beneficiaries, identified under the scheme, only 8,394 have benefited in the district. During the last three months not a single beneficiary has been awarded with money under this programme in Bhadrak, Dhamnagar and Basudevpur blocks. Vacancies in CDPO posts in the blocks and lack of interest of the officers who are in charge of the CDPOs is the cause of delay, said a district official requesting anonymity. Unless there is awareness among the employees starting from the anganwadi workers to CDPOs on the identification of the beneficiaries and its implementation, the programme cannot be expedited, he added. ADM Debendra Mohapatra said measures were being taken to accelerate Mamata scheme in the district and stern action will be taken against the truant officials.
