THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will formally launch the Road Infrastructure Company Kerala Ltd (RICK), the special purpose vehicle formed to execute the State Roads Improvement Project (SRIP), here on Tuesday. Chandy will also release the road identification report and feasibility study, conducted by Wilbur Smith Associates. Around 1,000 km of State Highways and major district roads will be renovated under the SRIP, which is estimated to cost around Rs 5,100 crore. The Kerala Road Fund Board is the executing agency of SRIP. The State Government has granted Rs 200 crore for land acquisition. Around Rs 1,000 crore will be allocated by the government. The rest of Rs 4,000 crore will be raised by the KRFB through various loans, infrastructure bonds and PPP. KRFB is seeking loans from the Asian Development Bank for SRIP. PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju is the director of RICK.
