HYDERABAD: Formal merger of PRP with the Congress may be further delayed due to the ill-health of party president Sonia Gandhi. However, some of the PRP legislators, for the first time, attended a meeting organised by the APCC at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday.Addressing newsmen after meeting party leaders from East Godavari district, APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana said that there might be a delay for the merger of the PRP with the Congress. In fact, the party high command had written to Chiranjeevi asking him to come to Delhi as per his convenience between August 7 and 10 to complete the formal merger process, he said. But in the present circumstances, it may be delayed.Botcha said he would undertake a two-day tour of East Godavari on August 21 and 22 starting from Annavaram. Replying to a query, the APCC president said he would agree with former chief minister K Rosaiah that the parties should suspend their activities temporarily till Sonia Gandhi recovers. Answering another question, Botcha said that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and he have been requesting Telangana ministers, who had resigned to their posts, to attend to duties as the Centre has started consultations process on the issue. As for the Clause 14(f) issue, he said, the government was doing its best.
