An attendant of a patient sought the help of a staff nurse to locate the counter where diet sheet was issued. It was said that the staff nurse negligently replied to his query. The students then approached the duty policemen, including sub-inspector Sankaralingam and two constables. But it was said that the cops refused to interfere in the issue stating that they could act on a written complaint only and had also allegedly abused the students. Irked by the response, the medicos launched a protest on the hospital premises demanding action against the cops. As talks between Assistant Commissioner of Police, S Vellaidorai and students failed, the issue was taken to the notice of the Collector by the hospital administration.Later, Collector U Sagayam, who held talks with the students, told reporters that the three cops named by students were transferred after consulting with CoP Kannappan.
