New Delhi: A city court on Monday granted Delhi Police 10 days' remand of suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Hakim Abdul Karim, who allegedly arranged for the ball bearings used in the bombs in the September 13 serial blasts in the Capital.
Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Rai granted the remand till January 15 after police said they need to take Hakim to Lucknow and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.
Hakim was brought to the capital Saturday from Lucknow after the Uttar Pradesh Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested him.
Delhi Police told the court that Atif Ameen, alleged to be the prime conspirator in the September 13 blasts, had asked Hakim to buy ball bearings specially from Azamgarh district. Hakim hails from the Uttar Pradesh district.
Hakim, a fourth-year student of biotechnology at Integral University in Lucknow, is a native of Rehmat Nagar in Azamgarh. He is being interrogated by Delhi Police's Special Cell officers at present.
Police told the court that Hakim has revealed that he had stayed in L-18, Batla House, in Jamia Nagar four days before the Sep 13 blasts. Delhi Police's Special Cell shot dead two terror suspects in a gunbattle at Batla House on September 19.
Police are also tracing the calls made from Hakim's mobile phones before and after the blasts.
Hakim is among the 13 alleged Indian Mujahideen men suspected to be involved in the blasts. Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs.100,000 on each of them on December 30.
Hakim had reportedly bought some 20,000 ball bearings from a shop in Delhi's Chandni Chowk, which were used in the Jaipur blasts.
The September 13 serial bombings killed at least 25 people and injured over 100.
