ADA Rangamandira will host the Rangabhivandane of Shishira Shastry, a disciple of P Praveen Kumar, Chithkala School of Dance, on October 9, 6.15 pm onwards.The guests of honour will include Padmabhushana awardee, C V Chandrasekhar, renowned Bharatanatyam scholar from Chennai; Ubhayagana Vidushi, Sangeetha Kalarathna, Dr Shyamala G Bhave, musician from Bangalore.Shishira Shastry, born into a family that has had a long association with the liberal arts, took to dance by natural instinct.His father Sugganahalli Shadakshari is a renowned Bharatnatyam dancer and a serious pursuer of the arts.Sugganahalli Shadakshari is also a distinguished lyricist, compere and theatre personality who is wellknown in the cultural scene of Karnataka.His constant support and keen interest have moulded the art form of Shishira.Shishira’s mother G Rajeshwari happens to be a perennial source of inspiration and care.Shishira was initiated into Bharatnatyam at the young age of ten under the able guidance of Sri P Praveen Kumar.Endowed with a radiant countenance and agile personality, Shishira has played the leading roles in ballets choreographed by P Praveen kumar such as Smarananjali and Chatura Ganapa.He has secured first prize in the dance competition conducted by Saraswati Sangeeta Vidyalaya and third prize in the Taru Samskruti festival held by Jain College.Besides this, Shishira has also learnt talent to play the mridangam from Karnataka Kalashree Vidwan M Vasudeva Rao Shishira is pursuing the final year of his under-graduate course in Commerce at Surana College.He took part in an NSS camp organised in Bhuvaneshwar and was selected for the cultural team of NSS from Karnataka.In addition, Shishira Shastry is well-versed in the skill of being an MC (Master of Ceremony) and has been a regular voice for prestigious companies such as Infosys, HP, Bosch and others for their events.
