Jaipur: Four policemen, evading arrest in the alleged staged encounter of criminal Dara Singh in 2006, surrendered on Monday before a special CBI court. Subhash Godara (Inspector), Sardar Singh (driver), constables Jagram and Bardiprasad surrendered before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mahendra Singhal.
The accused, who were part of the SOG team of Rajasthan police that gunned down the criminal Dara Singh near Jaipur, were remanded in judicial custody and will be produced before the court on Tuesday.
Besides the four policemen who surrendered on Monday, six other accused including IPS officer A Ponnuchamy have gone behind bars so far, while a few including senior IPS officer AK Jain are still out of the CBI's grip.
The 2006 October encounter was challenged by Dara's widow Sushila who alleged it was a fake and on a petition, the Supreme court had ordered a CBI probe in the case.
