MYSORE: If the Navarathri festival is a god-send  for city-based hotels and restaurants due to the  increased flow of tourists, it is also the time  to taste the different varieties of Indian  cuisine. From chaats to Bengali sweets, from the Mysore  masala dosa to the Hyderabad Biryani, Kerala fish curries to traditional Coorgi dishes — all can be  had under one roof at Dasara Food Mela which will  be held at the CADA office premises. The Food  mela that is a traditional crowd puller, will  have more than fifty stalls offering both  vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.Traditional chicken, mutton and fish dishes and  desserts from the seven sister states, the  north-east, too, will be available at competitive rates. Visitors to the mela can also have the  sweet that shares its name with the city, the Mysorepak, the Nanjangud Rasabale (banana),  Mysore betel leaves and the Erranagere brinjal.Dasara Food Mela president Rajendra said that  they have elicited a good response from various  organisations and hotels for participation in the  food mela. He added that priority will be given for cleanliness and quality and the venue will be free from plastic.Cultural programmes from various states and on-the-spot  ‘Mallige’ idly, ghee dosa and yelakki banana  eating competitions for different age groups have  been planned. Rajendra added that destitute women and women’s  organisations will be offered the chance to operate  food stalls.
