New Delhi: It has been a year since that horrific gangrape of the Delhi braveheart. The sheer brutality of the crime shook the country and the nation saw unprecedented protests. On many occasions, the police even used force to stop the growing protests. Under intense media coverage, a fast-track trial was conducted and the four adult perpetrators of the attack were sentenced to death while the one minor accused was remanded to a juvenile home. Here's the timeline of the case that shook the country:
December 16, 2012: The young paramedic student is raped and brutally assaulted by six men in a moving private bus.
December 17, 2012: Widespread protests break out in the national capital.
December 18, 2012: The first arrest is made in the case. Ram Singh, the driver of the bus is arrested. The girl remains in a critical condition in the ICU.
December 18, 2012: Protests intensify, Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit promises fast-track trial.
