New Delhi: It has been a year since that horrific gangrape of the Delhi braveheart. The sheer brutality of the crime shook the country and the nation saw unprecedented protests. On many occasions, the police even used force to stop the growing protests. Under intense media coverage, a fast-track trial was conducted and the four adult perpetrators of the attack were sentenced to death while the one minor accused was remanded to a juvenile home. Here's the timeline of the case that shook the country:
December 16, 2012: The young paramedic student is raped and brutally assaulted by six men in a moving private bus.
December 17, 2012: Widespread protests break out in the national capital.
December 18, 2012: The first arrest is made in the case. Ram Singh, the driver of the bus is arrested. The girl remains in a critical condition in the ICU.
December 18, 2012: Protests intensify, Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit promises fast-track trial.
December 20, 2012: Victim's friend testifies.
December 21, 2012: The minor accused is arrested from Badaun in UP.
December 22, 2012: The sixth and the final accused, Akshay Thakur, is also arrested from Aurangabad, Bihar. The government promises strict action.

January 3, 2013: The Delhi Police files chargesheet against five accused and slaps the accused with murder, apart from rape, abduction. The sixth accused is in Juvenile home.
January 7, 2013: Court orders in-camera proceedings.
January 17, 2013: Proceedings against five adult accused starts in fast-track court.
January 28, 2013: Juvenile justice boards declared one of the accused a minor.
March 11, 2013: Ram Singh commits suicide in Tihar jail.
July 11, 2013: Juvenile Justice Board holds minor guilty of illegally confining and robbing a carpenter on December 16 night before allegedly taking part in the gangrape.
August 22, 2013: Fast-track court begins hearing final arguments in the trial against four adult accused.
August 31, 2013: Juvenile Justice Board convicts the minor for gangrape and murder and awards three years term at a probation home.
September 10, 2013: Court convicts Mukesh, Vinay, Akshay, Pawan of 13 offences including gangrape, unnatural offence and murder of the girl and attempt to murder her male friend.
September 11, 2013: Court concludes hearing arguments on quantum of punishment to be awarded.
September 13, 2013: Court awards death to all four convicts.
