New Delhi: A 73-year-old advocate, who allegedly used his expertise in law to make fake documents of vehicles stolen by him, has been arrested, police said on Thursday. Dhani Ram Mittal alias Puran Chand (73) was nabbed on Tuesday by the anti-auto theft squad of North-West district police. A stolen car has also been recovered from his possession.

On a tip off, a police team laid a trap at Jehangirpuri Metro Station and stopped his car, which on verification was found to be stolen, a senior Delhi Police officer said. During interrogation, Mittal told police that he was released from jail 6 days ago and was going to dispose of the car earlier stolen by him.

Gradually he became master in forgery and also completed his LLB degree in 1970. He started his practice in the local courts of Rohtak and Delhi.
