New Delhi: Two women have been arrested on Monday in connection with baby Falak abandonment case. Delhi Police has arrested Kanta and Lakshmi. Meanwhile, police is also questioning Falak's mother Munni. Munni's statement is being recorded in front of a magistrate. Delhi Police team had traced down Munni from Rajasthan and brought her to Delhi on Monday morning.
DCP South Chaya Sharma said, "We were able to track down the mother of Falak from a village in Jhunjunu district in Rajasthan. We had formed 5 teams to trace down the family of Falak. Lakshmi was identified earlier. It was important for us to trace down the original biological parents."
"The original biological mother was married off at the age of 16 and now she is 22 years old. The family life was very disturbed. The biological mother has accepted that Falak is her biological daughter. She was convinced that she would not be able to raise Falak on her own," she added.
She said that Kanta Chaudhry, Saroj and Lakshmi colluded and conspired together. Kanta Chaudhry belongs to Kotputli in Rajasthan.
Battered two-year-old Falak, who has been fighting for life at the AIIMS, has shown no signs of improvement and is back on the ventilator.
"She is not breathing properly. That is why we had to put her back on the ventilator on February 4 night. The infection in her body and improper fluid movement are not allowing us to keep her off the ventilator. She is critical but stable," Dr Deepak Agarwal, neurosurgeon with the hospital, said.
Falak was brought to the AIIMS Trauma Centre on January 18 with severe head injury, both her arms broken, bite marks
all over her body and her cheeks branded with hot iron.
Doctors have already conducted three life saving surgeries on her from the day of her admission here. More surgeries are required to be conducted but these have been kept on hold till the infection recedes, he said.
"We are conducting culture reports on everyday basis to see the level of infection present in her body. Once the reports come negative we are assured that she is responding positively to the treatment," Dr Agarwal said.
Forensic analyst are yet to confirm that the marks on her body are that of human bite.
"Dental department too has been roped in for it. They are helping in the process," a forensic analyst with AIIMS said.
Dr Agarwal said Falak will have to live with the tracheotomy conducted on her for some time even after she has fully recovered.
