New Delhi: Unidentified men opened fire on two Delhi Police constables on Saturday evening in the busy Connaught Place area in the heart of the national capital. As per initial reports, the attackers were three in number.
The trio opened fire on the constables when the latter had stopped them to inquire where they were headed. Luckily, the shots missed everyone in the busy marketplace.
The incident took place at 9:05 P.M. at Super Bazar, Mayur Bhavan, in the Connaught Place area, police said.
“Four rounds were fired by the attackers on constables Prateek and Sandeep, but nobody was injured,” said a senior police official, adding that one of the attackers was apprehended while the remaining two managed to flee.
The attacker who was caught was even roughed up by locals. He has been taken into custody and is being questioned. “We are interrogating the accused and efforts are on to nab the remaining two attackers,” the official said.
