KOCHI: The Moolampilly eviction and drinking water shortage in Cheranelloor grabbed attention on an international platform as Hibi Eden MLA raised these issues at the 23rd conference of Commonwealth Parliament Association held at Samoan Islands. Hibi Eden was one of the six representatives from the country who participated in the conference. The MLA said that developmental activities with scant attention to the basic needs of the people would make them drift away from their elected representatives and democracy. “Developmental activities should not throttle a common man’s right to life,” he said. The MLA said that the elected representatives should be held responsible for the mounting woes of the people living in Thanthonnithuruthu and Kadamakkudi.
