PUDUCHERRY: Accusing the All India NR Congress government of protecting ‘wanted criminals’, the AIADMK, on Wednesday, urged the Centre to dismiss the government as it was functioning in violation of Constitutional guidelines.Addressing a press conference here, secretary of the local unit of the AIADMK, A Anbazhagan, alleged that the government was functioning in an ‘unlawful’ way and pointed out that as per the Union Territory Act 1963, the Centre could intervene and dismiss a ‘tainted’ minister without the recommendation of the government.He said that the party had already made a representation to the President, Prime Minister and Union Home minister for action against the government here, but to no avail.On the other hand, chief minister Rangasamy was attempting to divert the issue by stating that the Tamil Nadu government had registered an impersonation case against Transport and Education minister PML Kalyanasundaram for political reasons, he said.He alleged that the education and transport minister was in possession of a CD, which could cause trouble for Rangasamy if released and pointed out that this could be the reason for the chief minister’s reluctance to dismiss the ‘tainted’ minister.
