Don't play with law, Maya warns BSP MLAs
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has warned BSP MLAs in the state not to take law and order for granted.

New Delhi Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has warned BSP MLAs in the state not to take law and order for granted. She said “high-profile criminals” in the state would not be spared.

Reacting sharply to the reports of BSP MLAs showing weapons at 'Vijay Rally' the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo said, ''No one has got the liberty to play with law and order. Anyone found guilty would be punished.''

Mayawati called an emergency meeting after reports came of BSP men indulging in violence in Hardoi, Bulandshahr and Meerut districts.

''I think this warning is enough as I do not want to see such acts in future again,'' the CM cautioned. ''Maintaining law and order is my priority and I do not want to see my MLAs indulging in violence,'' she was quoted by UNI.

The BSP chief said that those who displayed weapons and opened fire in 'Vijay Rally' were not BSP men. Two Samajwadi Party (SP) supporters were allegedly shot dead by BSP workers Amit Singh, Shiv Shankar and Munna Singh, following a clash in Sultanpur area on Sunday.

The BSP government in Uttar Pradesh has also cracked its whip on mafia-politicians of the previous Samajwadi Party regime, invoking NSA and Gangster's Act against them.

Mayawati has directed senior officials to go slow on petty crime by adopting a "reformative approach" and to concentrate on high-profile criminals and white collar crime.
