BHUBANESWAR:In its bid to bring the entire admission process to one platform, the Higher Education Department has decided that all degree colleges of the State will come into e-admission fold from 2012-13 academic session.Not just that, on-line form fill up and admit cards will become norms for all degree and autonomous colleges as students will have to take admission through e-admission route from next year.Besides, e-scholarship will also be implemented in the same pattern as e-admission.All the applications for the scholarship will be received online and validated at the college level.The amounts will also be transferred to the individual bank accounts of the applicants.The Department is preparing an action plan for this.For this purpose, the Department has placed Regional Directors of Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur and Berhampur on the Students Academic Management System (SAMS) steering committee along with General Manager of Odisha Computer Application Centre which is mandated with the software solutions for the eadmission, e-administration, e-space as well as other platforms.In fact, the colleges will also have to contribute towards the whole expenditure.The Department has stipulated that each college will have to deposit ` 40 per student towards issue of registration number and card to the SAMS central fund.Once the colleges are put on the central database, the institutions will not have the total rights to update its strength on the e-space.A team of officials from Council of Higher Secondary Education and Regional Director of Education will be mandated with the power to verify the database and submit the reports to the Government.Once the High Power Committee takes a call on any change in streams, colleges, subjects and strengths, the Regional Directors will have power to make the necessary updates.The Odisha Computer Applications Centre has been asked to prepare a detailed report on e-admission for both junior and degree colleges for the next session.The report will take into account all aspects of SAMS such as software development, call centre management, online registration and form fill-up, web camera integration and scholarship.
