KOCHI: Evictees of road and rail connectivity projects for the Vallarpadom International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) have come up against the statement by Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan that the previous LDF government had rehabilitated 300 evictee families. In a statement issued, the Coordination Committee of Evictees said that the statement was against facts.“The LDF government tried to acquire the land without giving any rehabilitation facilities. "It was only after the people protested that the government announced the Moolampilly package in March 2008. "Instead of trying to implement the package, the government was actually trying to sabotage it,” a statement released by general convener Francis Kalathunkal and Samara Sahaya Samithi chairman C R Neelakandan said.It alleged that the land given by the previous government for rehabilitation was suitable only for construction and it did not have facilities like drinking water, drainage, electricity and road connectivity.
