BHUBANESWAR: If all the power projects in the State get functional, the investment in the sector would be around ` 6,50,000 crore out of which at least 10 per cent should be dedicated to manufacturing equipment for electricity generation, said  honorary secretary of Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI), Debabrata Dash. Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday,  Dash said this investment will help the  small-scale industries grow. Out of the 30 MoUs on thermal power plant signed by the State Government, only one is functional and there is progress on three other projects. Rest of the projects are in a limbo due to land acquisition problems.  UCCI member Pravat Mohanty said the State will be capable of generating around 30,000 mega watt electricity if all the projects are made functional.  To deliberate on these and many more power-related issues, a four-day exhibition-cum-seminar ‘Electricity Odisha - 2012’ will be organised by UCCI from February 20. The exhibition will display the machinery used to generate and transmit electricity. Presently around 95 per cent of the equipment requirement is met from manufacturers outside the state. The rest five per cent is met by small-scale industries. The technical sessions will deliberate on the need for manufacturing machinery needed to generate electricity. A road map for future projects and loss of electricity due to transmission will be discussed here. Among others, Swapna Kumar Swain, UCCI joint treasurer, and RN Panigrahi, engineer, UCCI, were present.
