History drew life and strength in the old Assembly Hall in the state Secretariat complex on Wednesday, as three dimensional life-size holographic images of former Kerala Chief Ministers’ and E M S Nampoothiripad, Pattom Thanu Pillai, R Sankar and C Achutha Menon were unveiled in a solemn ceremony. The stalwart leaders, who are the pride of the state and continue to command great heights in the minds of the people, has come alive in the holographs.
Delivering the inaugural address at the unveiling ceremony, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that holographic images of former Chief Ministers’ E K Nayanar, K Karunakaran, P K Vasudevan Nair and C H Mohammed Koya would also be unveiled soon.
The holography museum was set up by Institute of Parliamentary Affairs. A novel initiative of the Institute, it is intended to give a new appeal and perspective in the legislative history of the state, laced with political and social overtones. The Institute was formed to co-ordinate the legislative Business of the government and to develop healthy parliamentary practices in the State, Chandy said.
The Chief Minister also launched the Youth Parliament 2011-12. The Chief Minister said that various activities of the Institute of parliamentary affairs were providing support and creating many opportunities for the new generation. He urged the new generation to utilise such available opportunities in an effective manner.
Youth Parliament, yet another initiative of the Institute, was aimed at introducing children and youth to Parliamentary practices by holding regular sessions at schools, district and state-levels.
The image of E M S Nampoothiripad was unveiled by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Pattom Thanu Pillai by Speaker G Karthikeyan, R Sankar by Opposition leader V S Achuthanadan, and C Achutha Menon by Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty.
The function was presided over by the Speaker. Close family members of the deceased Chief Ministers were special guests of the function. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, ministers’ K C Joseph, P K Kunhalikutty, Abdu Rabb and Sivadasan Nair MLA offered felicitations.
The images were moulded by transferring the details to photo-sensitive films, using laser rays. The expertise of the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology, Kerala, was put to use for it .The uniqueness of the final images is that it could be view in a 3D angle without the aid of any special lighting.
