New Delhi: Directed by Stephen Daldry, ‘Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close’ is a touching movie that recalls the horror of 9/11 and the aftermath where all America still struggles to deal with the pain of losing the ones they loved. The movie hits theatres on March 2.

The movie stars Tom Hanks, Thomas Horn, Sandra Bullock, Zoe Caldwell, Dennis Hearn, Julian Tepper, Caleb Reynolds, John Goodman, Max von Sydow, Stephen Henderson , Lorna Pruce, Viola Davis, Jeffrey Wright and Hazelle Goodman.

‘Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close’ was expected to do well in the Oscars – but it fell behind other movies like ‘The Iron Lady’, “Hugo’. ‘The Artist’ and ‘The Descendants’.

Sandra Bullock who plays the female lead in the movie said in an interview that though she was not directly a part of the 9/11 attacks – it had affected her immensely. "I was here on that day with my sister and brother-in-law...It was just one of those days that you saw New Yorkers being the amazing human beings that they are and everyone helping and bonding together," contactmusic.com quoted Bullock as saying.

"It's so hard to talk about. I didn't lose someone directly, but I was there to experience other people's loss. It's not just an accident [or] something that happens, it was an intended action and that's hard to understand," she added.

Adapted from the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, ‘Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close’ is a story that stems from inside the young mind of Oskar Schell, an eleven year-old who discovers a key in his deceased fathers’ belongings. Oskar sets off on an urgent search across the city for the lock it will open.

A year after his father died in the World Trade Center on what Oskar calls ‘The Worst Day’, he is determined to keep his vital connection to the man who playfully cajoled him into confronting his wildest fears.

Oskar crosses the five NY boroughs in search of the missing lock. He encounters an eclectic assortment of people who are each survivors in their own way – he begins to uncover unseen links to his father who he misses, to his mother who seems so far away from him and to the whole noisy, dangerous, world around him.
