NDA ally PMK had urged the Centre to revoke its decision.
New Delhi: Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani on Friday said German as a third language in the Kendriya Vidyalaya schools will be optional and will not be completely replaced with Sanskrit.
This comes after various political parties slammed the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry's decision to replace German with Sanskrit. NDA ally PMK had urged the Centre to revoke its decision.
"Irani's diktat asking Kendriya Vidyalaya schools to stop teaching German as the third language and instead tutor Sanskrit is a planned imposition of Sanskrit," PMK chief Ramadoss alleged.
Kendriya Vidyalaya had decided to discontinue teaching German as an alternative to Sanskrit as the third language.
