Docs protesting quota for OBCs would no more burn Arjun Singh's effigies and would offer him flowers instead.

Mumbai: The medicos protesting against the quota for the Other backward Class students in the higher education would no more burn effigies of Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh.

They would also not throw slippers on his portrait but would give the Minister flowers.

Inspired from the latest flick Lage Raho Munnabhai medicos came out in the streets on Monday wearing Gandhi caps and carrying flowers.

One of them was even dressed like the Father of the Nation and offered flowers to the photograph of Human Resource and Development Minister Arjun Singh.

The change in the style of protest is the impact that the latest movie has done on the Indian mindscape.

Medicos also not untouched by this new rage decided to revive Mahatma's non-violent Satyagraha and chose the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 137th birth anniversary to begin their "Gandhigiri" style of protesting.

"Today we have taken on the same value which Mahatma Gandhi took to free this country from British Empire, the value of truth and non violence. These values will remain forever, even five hundred years from now. We will fight with the weapon of truth and non violence," said a medical student, Pratush Gupta.

The medicos contended that since Arjun Singh and Congress party have sworn by the name of Gandhi for more than half a century they will understand the students' point of view in Gandhi's way.

"We don't know what Arjun Singh is made of or what he drinks or eats. He is not at all affected by the voices of these children. We thought that he might understand our point of view in this way," said a film director Ashok Pandit.

The phenomenon of Gandhigiri has reached a new high with media, public opinion and people at large discussing it.

Even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his ongoing visit to South Africa talked about the film and said that it made him feel heartened that the film in its own humorous way has rediscovered Gandhi and his principles today for the youth.
