BANGALORE: Seldom does the Karnataka government miss a chance to exude the IT city status to the world. But its effort to promote religious tourism through a website turned out to be a an error, as it failed to function on the very day of its launch. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda launched the website, ‘www.karnatakatemplesyatra.kar.nic.in,’ on Wednesday, but the realisation of its actual purpose would have to wait as it remained non-functional until late on Wednesday with little hope of revival or support. The website that was launched to clarify the doubts of devotees in the state and is meant to provide information regarding reservation of rooms, different poojas and sevas in the various religious locations in the state, was launched by the Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (Muzrai). Earlier the Muzrai department commissioner B G Nandakumar, had said that Malai Madeshwara and Kukke Subramanya temples had got ISO certificates, and claimed that it was the first time any religious institution had got such an attribute. Nandakumar had also said that information pertaining to major temples in the state would be available with a click of the mouse. The commissioner remained unavailable to comment.
