GULBARGA: It was a painful experience for a girl student from Gulbarga University (GU), who was declared absent courtesy a clerical error, though she sat for the examinations. Though Express drew the attention of GU, carrying a story in this regard in its May 8 edition, the authorities failed to act in a satisfying manner. Manjushree, a BCA 3rd semester student of Wardlaw CSI College, Bellary, is the victim of the ‘clerical error’. She expected good marks, but was shocked to see ‘absent’ marked for the Discrete Mathematical Structure paper. Consequently, she was declared failed in the subject. When Express contacted Vice-Chancellor Prof E T Puttaiah then, he promised to hold an inquiry into the matter, but till date it is yet to fructify. Manjushree’s father Mallikarjun, told Express on Sunday that he would lodge an official complaint with the Lokayukta in Bellary against the GU on Monday, besides serving a legal notice. He said he would go to Bangalore on Tuesday and request the Governor to solve the matter. Mallikarjun criticised the attitude of the GU authorities, adding that the officials have stopped receiving his mobile calls. “Even the Bellary Lokayukta SP tried to contact the university, but the officials refused to talk with him,” he alleged.
