KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to consider all aspects before granting a licence for opening a bar near Gandhi Square at Poonithura.A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice C N Ramachandran Nair and Justice P S Gopinathan passed the order, while considering a petition submitted by T P Ajit Kumar of Kochi who sought a directive to the state against granting licence for a bar in a hotel at Gandhi Square. The petitioner also said a ‘Nagar Kavu’ is  situated within 200 metres of the hotel near the Gandhi Square. He further added that the Rule 3 of the Foreign Liquor Rules framed under the Kerala Abkari Act prohibits granting of licence to conduct foreign liquor bars in three-star hotels within the vicinity 200 meters of temple, church or mosque. However the state government submitted that, so far it has not received any application for the licence to start a bar in the said hotel near the Gandhi Square.
