KOCHI: The High Court on Friday issued notices to Kochi Metro Rail Corporation and the State Government on a petition challenging the proposal to change the alignment of the Metro Rail project in Aluva region.Justice Harun-Ul-Rasheed issued the notice while considering a petition filed by Shakeela and Paul Joy of Aluva seeking a directive to stay further proceedings. The petitioner argued that the project should begin from the mini civil station premises, from the western side of the Aluva railway station, running parallel to the existing railway line and join Pulinchodu junction on NH 47.This plan was beneficial for the public and most of the properties in this area belong to the government. The petitioners further argued that the current proposal is to start the metro rail from the private bus stand and proceed by the side of NH 47 to Pulinchodu. Many buildings and houses have to be demolished as per this plan.
