KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday refused to lift the police protection allotted to Sheeja Azis, victim in the Sharjah sex racket case. A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice C N Ramachandran Nair refused the plea submitted by Sheeja Azis and adjourned the hearing to Friday.“It is not safe to leave the victim independently. The investigation is going on and some of the accused are still absconding,” the court orally observed.Sheeja alleged that police is harassing her and she is finding it hard to visit places. The court recorded the submissions of Sheeja who was present at the court. The Bench also recorded the submissions of the two police constables accompanying her. Sheeja Azis had managed to escape from the clutches of the racket in the UAE.
